Enmity

How can there be, how can there be
A world so full of enmity!
For where is peace, good will to men
When hordes of parachutists can
Swarm as they did on little Crete
And with such ire others meet?
Or when is heard the siren’s cry
Into the shelters one must fly,
With bombs a’sailing through the air
Rain death, destruction and despair.
Upon the far-flung battlefields
The monstrous tank sure havoc wields,
When submarines throughout the day
And in the darkness stalk their prey?
The world today is drenched in sorrow,
None knows the outcome. of tomorrow;
The victory-may be our share
What sacrifices we must bear!
And of all this there was no deed
These cruel acts of word and deed,
The spoils secured thru bitter strife,
They are not worth one treasured life,
Our boys are forced for freedom’s sake
In hideous actions to partake
Actions to their nature foreign,
Yanks abhor this horrid warrin!
I often, often ponder o’er
And would things were now as before;
I think of Johnnie far from home
And Ervine on the briny foam,
Just like their parents I too yearn
And hope and pray for their return.
And that for peoples on the earth
Of friendships never any dearth,
And then “Good Neighbors” we will be
Forever ending Enmity.

Churchill & Roosevelt! Kith and Kin!
Leaders who are bound to win.
The principles for which they’ve fought
Never will they be forgot;
Throughout the changes time shall name
Always will remain the same,
His Ideals stand, each in his own,
His native land
The Keynote is his greatness.
