The Farm Sheik

We have a Leghorn rooster
That’s most a noble sheik
In performance of his duties
He really can’t be beat

Just take him in the mornings
He’s the equal of a clock
Intermittent or spasmodic
You’d call this Leghorn cock

His crowing wakens up his wives
Their living they must scratch
But still in this respect, I think
He is an equal match.

He doesn’t laud their indolence
He knows that doesn’t pay
But gives them much encouragement
Insisting that they lay.

You know that our big barnyard
He’d like to populate
Now isn’t that commendable
To stronger make you state.

And so with all his duties
Time is short for recreation
As he aims to be a model
For the younger generation

You know with many different wives
It’s a problem to agree
But he knows how to handle them
So very tactfully.

Mere man sometimes cannot agree
With just a single “one”
While in our Leghorn’s harem
You’ll find he’s twenty won.

He tries to make my store bills light
This thrifty wise old rooster
He tries to raise my bank account
So deserves the name of “Booster”.

He features glossy feathers
And always looks so sleek
He wears a crest upon his head
This good old farmyard “Sheik”.
