Elmpark

A sacred Spot: this Spot we call our own,
Wherein doth lie our loved ones dear
Who left us,
To forever be beneath the arched sky
Thru winter’s chill, thru gentle spring,
Thru summer’s radiance and autumn’s glow – –
For God has called them home.
The mothers at whose knees were said,
“I lay me”,
No more have cares.
Fathers who fondled little ones
Now rest serene.
Children laid playthings away – –
And youths in life’s bloom, who marched
To “Pomp and Circumstance”.
The young may die,
The old are garnered in – –
So we must veer from paths of sin.
Christ is the door – –
He is the Shepherd, we are His sheep – –
He calls us to the fold.
